Ibn Burayda reported,

Muawiya left Hims and said to his servant, "Bring me my two garments." He put them on, then entered the mosque of Hims and prayed two units of prayer. When he finished, he saw some people sitting there.He asked them, "What has brought you together here?"They replied, "We prayed the obligatory prayer, then the storyteller delivered his account. When he finished, we sat down to discuss the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ."Muawiya said, "There is no man who met the Prophet ﷺ who narrates fewer hadith from him than I do. But I will tell you two matters I memorized from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. There is no man placed in authority over the people, with men standing at his head, who loves to have many disputants at his door, but that he will enter Paradise."He continued, "I was with the Prophet ﷺ one day when he entered the mosque and found some men sitting there. The Prophet ﷺ asked, 'What has brought you together here?'They answered, 'We prayed the obligatory prayer, then sat down to discuss the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Prophet ﷺ.'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When Allah mentions a thing, the mention of it is magnified.'"

عن ابن بريدة

أن معاوية خرج من حمص، فقال لغلامه: ائتني- يعني بثوبيه- فلبسهما، ثم دخل مسجد حمص، فركع ركعتين، فلما فرغ إذا هو بناس جلوس فقال لهم: ما يجلسكم؟ قالوا: صلينا صلاة المكتوبة، ثم قص القاص، فلما فرغ قعدنا نتذاكر سنة النبي ﷺ، فقال معاوية: ما من رجل أدرك النبي ﷺ أقل حديثا عنه مني، إني سأحدثكم بخصلتين حفظتهما عن رسول الله ﷺ: ما من رجل يكون على الناس، فيقوم على رأسه الرجال يحب أن يكثر الخصوم عنده، فيدخل الجنة. قال: وكنت مع النبي ﷺ يوما، فدخل المسجد، فإذا هو بقوم في المسجد قعود، فقال النبي ﷺ: ما يقعدكم؟ قالوا: صلينا صلاة المكتوبة، ثم قعدنا نتذاكر كتاب الله وسنة نبيه ﷺ، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: إن الله إذا ذكر شيئا تعاظم ذكره.
