Abu Dawud (1459) and Hakim (2/354-355) both narrated it through the hadith of Jareer, from Amash, from Muslim al-Batin, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it, with the wording given here being that of Abu Dawud.Hakim's wording is, "Seven of the often-repeated, and the long ones." He said, "Sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs." It appears that this is the correct version, for "seven of the often-repeated" refers to the Fatihah, and "the long ones" refers to what will be mentioned next.Hakim also narrated it through another route, from Muslim al-Batin, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, concerning His saying , "We have certainly given you seven of the often-repeated verses and the great Quran" [Hijr 15:87]. He said, "Baqarah, Al Imran, Nisa, Maidah, Anaam, Araf, and Surah Kahf." He said, "Sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs."It has also come through another route, from Jareer with his chain, "Musa was given the Tablets, and I was given the often-repeated." Ismaili narrated it in Mujam Shuyukh (244). Its chain is sahih, and it is an abridged version.
