He said, "I will only say to you what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say. He used to say, 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, from decrepit old age, and from the punishment of the grave. O Allah, grant my soul its piety and purify it, for You are the best to purify it. You are its Guardian and Master. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not feel humility, from a soul that is never satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.'"
قال لا أقول لكم إلا كما كان رسول الله ﷺ يقول- كان يقول-: اللهم إني أعوذ بك من العجز والكسل، والجبن والبخل، والهرم وعذاب القبر. اللهم آت نفسي تقواها وزكها أنت خير من زكاها، أنت وليها ومولاها. اللهم إني أعوذ بك من علم لا ينفع، ومن قلب لا يخشع، ومن نفس لا تشبع، ومن دعوة لا يستجاب لها.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Remembrance and Supplication (2722) from the hadith of Abu Muawiya, from Asim, from Abdullah bin Harith, and from Abu Uthman Nahdi, from Zayd bin Arqam, who mentioned it.
