Nasai narrated it in Kubra (10/39-40) from Husayn bin Hurayth, he said, Fadl bin Musa informed us, from Husayn bin Waqid, from Yazid, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan because of Husayn bin Waqid, for he is hasan al-hadith.I say, there is no contradiction between these narrations. What is meant by the verse of riba, and His saying, "And fear a day in which you will be returned to Allah" [Baqarah 2:281], and the verse of debt, as some scholars have said, is that these verses, starting from verse number 278 up to verse number 282, were revealed all at once in the order they appear in the Quran. So each person reported what knowledge he had, and each expressed it in terms of the last thing that had been revealed.Bayhaqi said in Dalail (7/139), "These differences, if they are sound, can be reconciled by saying that each person answered according to what he knew."Someone else said, "There is nothing in it that goes back to the Prophet, and each person spoke according to what he supposed. Some scholars stated it without qualification, while others qualified it, either by the ruling or by the time. An example of a verse qualified by the ruling is the hadith that follows."
