The people of Kufa differed concerning this verse, "And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell" [Nisa 4:93]. So I traveled to Ibn Abbas and asked him about it.He said, "It was revealed among the last things revealed, and nothing has abrogated it."
اختلف أهل الكوفة في هذه الآية: {ومن يقتل مؤمنا متعمدا فجزاؤه جهنم} [النساء: ٩٣] فرحلت إلى ابن عباس، فسألته عنها، فقال: لقد أنزلت آخر ما أنزل ثم ما نسخها شيء.
Bukhari reported it in the tafsir (4590), and Muslim in the tafsir (3023), both from the hadith of Shubah, from Mughira bin Numan, from Saeed bin Jubayr, who related it as mentioned.As for the statement of Allah, exalted is He, in Surah Maidah, "Today I have perfected for you your religion" [Maidah 5:3], it is well known that this was revealed at Arafah in the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage, and the Prophet ﷺ lived approximately three months after it. The verse concerning riba was revealed seven nights before his death, even though he ﷺ had prohibited riba on the day of Arafah. So what is meant by this noble verse is the fundamentals of the religion and its established legislation found in the Book and the sahih sunnah, and its being made manifest over all other religions, because Allah chose the religion of Islam for all His servants, and this religion will remain until the Day of Resurrection. So after this, no one has the right to claim prophethood or to abrogate anything from this religion.
