Bazzar (282) narrated it from the hadith of Khalid bin Khidash bin Ajlan, who said, Abdullah bin Zayd bin Aslam narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Umar bin Khattab, and he mentioned it.Tabarani likewise narrated it in Awsat (8073) from the hadith of Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Abdullah bin Zayd bin Aslam narrated to us, and he mentioned it. Diya mentioned it as a suspended narration in Mukhtarah (1/184) from the hadith of Qutayba bin Saeed, but did not mention in it "from his grandfather," saying instead, "Zayd did not hear from Umar." It appears that in his copy the phrase "from his grandfather" had dropped out.Its chain is hasan on account of Abdullah bin Zayd bin Aslam, concerning whom there is some discussion, though he is not alone in narrating it. Hisham bin Saad corroborated him, narrating from Zayd bin Aslam, from his father, from Umar, and he mentioned it.By this route it was narrated by Tabarani in Saghir (83/1), Abu Naeem in Tibb Nabawi (419), Khatib Baghdadi in his Tarikh (6/210-211), and Diya in Mukhtarah. Hisham bin Saad's hadith is hasan when used as corroboration.As for his statement "al-ghamz," it means pressing down with the hand. And his statement "it is a she-camel that plunged me into difficulty" means it placed me in a predicament.
