The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Use kohl made from ithmid, for it makes the eyelashes grow, removes specks from the eye, and clears the vision."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: عليكم بالإثمد؛ فإنه منبتة للشعر، ومذهبة للقذى، مصفاة للبصر.

Bukhari narrated it in Tarikh al-Kabir (8/412), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (1/66-67) and in Al-Awsat, Majma Bahrayn (4180), both of them through Yunus bin Rashid, who said, Awn bin Muhammad bin Hanafiya narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather Ali bin Abu Talib, and he mentioned it.Its isnad is hasan because of Awn bin Muhammad bin Hanafiya, from whom a group of narrators reported, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators, and his hadith has firmly established foundations. Yunus bin Rashid is also hasan al-hadith. Munziri graded it hasan in Targhib wa Tarhib, and Ibn Hajar did likewise in Fath al-Bari.
