He said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Apply ithmid kohl before sleeping, for it sharpens the sight and makes the lashes grow."
قال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: عليكم بالإثمد عند النوم؛ فإنه يجلو البصر، وينبت الشعر.
Ibn Majah (3496) narrated it from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, and it is also in his Musannaf (23951), where he said, Abdul-Rahim bin Sulayman told us, from Ismail bin Muslim, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir, and he related it.In this chain is Ismail bin Muslim, who is the Makki, and he is daif. However, he is corroborated by Muhammad bin Ishaq, as found with Tirmidhi in Shamail (50), and Abu Yaala (2058), both of them narrating from Ahmad bin Mani, who said, Muhammad bin Yazid Wasiti told us, from Muhammad bin Ishaq, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir bin Abdullah, and he related the same.Muhammad bin Ishaq is a mudallis and he narrated this using ambiguous transmission language (an), but this poses no problem when it comes as corroboration, especially when it has a basis, and this is indeed the case here. Because of this, the hadith becomes hasan.
