He was asked about the wages of the cupper and replied, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was treated with cupping by Abu Taybah, and he gave him two saa of food and spoke to his masters, who reduced his dues."He also said, "The best remedies you can use are cupping and sea costus."And he said, "Do not torment your children by squeezing their throats to treat tonsillitis. Use costus instead."
Narrated by Bukhari in the Book of Medicine (5696), and this is his wording, and Muslim in the Book of Sharecropping (177:63), both from the hadith of Humayd al-Tawil, from Anas, as mentioned above.Al-Qust al-Bahri is Indian aloeswood. His statement, "Do not torment your children by pressing on udhrah," refers to udhrah, a pain or swelling that flares up in the throat from blood during hot days. They used to press on the spot with their fingers so that black blood would come out of it. So he guided them to the fact that al-qust suffices instead of that.
