I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a son of mine on whom I had pressed the uvula to treat a throat ailment.He said, "Why do you press your children's throats with this treatment? You should use this Indian aloeswood, for it contains seven cures, among them pleurisy. It is administered through the nose for throat ailment and poured into the side of the mouth for pleurisy."
دخلت بابن لي على رسول الله ﷺ وقد أعلقت عليه من العذرة، فقال: على ما تدغرن أولادكن بهذا العلاق؟ عليكن بهذا العود الهندي؛ فإن فيه سبعة أشفية، منها: ذات الجنب يسعط من العذرة، ويلد من ذات الجنب.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Medicine (5713), and Muslim in the Book of Greetings (2214), both through the route of Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Zuhri, from Ubaydullah bin Abdullah, from Umm Qays bint Mihsan, as she mentioned. Bukhari added, Zuhri said, "He explained two of them to us, but did not explain five of them to us."They both narrated it through another route and added, "I brought a young son of mine to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ before he had eaten any food, and the child urinated on him, so he called for water and sprinkled it."Her saying, "I applied a remedy to him," means she treated the child's swollen uvula by pressing on it with her finger. And her saying, "you press on the throat," daghr means pressing on the throat.
