Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Medicine (5691), and Muslim in the Book of Irrigation and Sharecropping (1202: 65), both through the route of Wahib, who said, Ibn Tawus narrated to us, from his father, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it.His saying, "and he used nasal medicine," means he used the nasal remedy, which is a medicine poured into the nose.As for what is reported from Ibn Abbas, who said, The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best things you may treat yourselves with are nasal medicine, oral medicine, cupping, and the laxative." When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell ill, his companions gave him oral medicine, and when they had finished, he said, "Give it to them as well." He said, So they were all given it except Abbas. This is daif.Tirmidhi narrated it (2047), and Hakim (4/209), and it contains Abbad bin Mansur, who is very daif. Its referencing has already been given in full detail in Shamail, in the chapter on what has been said about the kohl of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.As for the story of the Prophet's ﷺ being given oral medicine, it is established in the hadith that follows.His saying, "oral medicine," refers to the medicine given to the sick person through the mouth.His saying, "nasal medicine," refers to what is given to the sick person through the nose, as already mentioned.His saying, "the laxative," refers to the purgative medicine.
