The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When Allah loves a servant, He shields him from the world just as one of you keeps water away from his sick patient."
إن رسول الله ﷺ قال: إذا أحب الله عبدا حماه الدنيا كما يظل أحدكم يحيم سقيمه الماء.
Tirmidhi (2036) and Ahmad in Zuhd (57) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban (669) and Hakim (4/207) graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Ismail bin Jafar, from Umara bin Ghaziya, from Asim bin Umar bin Qatada, from Mahmud bin Labeed, from Qatada bin Numan, who mentioned it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith, and this hadith has also been narrated from Mahmud bin Labeed, from the Prophet ﷺ, as a mursal report."Its detailed sourcing has already been given.
