I said, "Messenger of Allah, there are things we used to do in the days of ignorance. We used to visit the soothsayers."He replied, "Do not visit the soothsayers."I said, "We used to take omens from birds."He said, "That is something one of you finds in his heart, but do not let it turn you back."
قلت: يا رسول الله أمورا كنا نصنعها في الجاهلية، كنا نأتي الكهان قال: فلا تأتوا الكهان قال: قلت: كنا نتطير قال: ذاك شيء يجده أحدكم في نفسه فلا يصدنكم.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Greetings (537:121) through several routes from Ibn Wahb, who said, Yunus informed me, from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf, from Muawiya bin Hakam Sulami, who said, and then he mentioned it.
