I had a maternal uncle who used to recite incantations to treat scorpion stings. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then forbade incantations, so my uncle came to him and said, "Messenger of Allah, you have forbidden incantations, and I treat scorpion stings with them."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Whoever among you is able to benefit his brother, let him do so."
كان لي خال يرقي من العقرب فنهى رسول الله ﷺ عن الرقى قال: فأتاه فقال: يا رسول الله إنك نهيت عن الرقى وأنا أرقي من العقرب، فقال: من استطاع منكم أن ينفع أخاه فليفعل.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Greetings (2199:62) through several routes from Waki, from Amash, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, who related it as mentioned.He also narrated it through the route of Abu Muawiya, who said, Amash narrated to us via this route, and it contains, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade incantations. Then the family of Amr bin Hazm came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we used to have an incantation with which we treated scorpion stings, but you have forbidden incantations." He said, so they presented it to him, and he said, "I see no harm in it. Whoever among you is able to benefit his brother, let him benefit him."
