The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no ruqyah except for the evil eye or a venomous sting."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: لا رقية إلا في عين أو حمة

It was narrated by Abu Dawud (3884) and Ahmad (19908), both through the route of Malik bin Mughul, and by Tirmidhi (2057) through the route of Sufyan (that is, Ibn Uyayna), both of them from Husayn (that is, Ibn Abdul-Rahman Sulami), from Shaybi, from Imran bin Husayn, who related it as a raised report (marfu). Its chain of transmission is sahih.Bukhari also narrated it in the Book of Medicine (5705) through the route of Ibn Fudayl, from Husayn with the same wording, but as a stopped report (mawquf), and the ruling belongs to the one who raised it (rafaha). As for his statement, "There is no ruqya except for the evil eye or a scorpion sting," it does not mean to deny the permissibility of ruqya for anything other than these two. Rather, the meaning of the hadith is, there is no ruqya more fitting or beneficial than the ruqya for these two, just as one says, "There is no young man like Ali."
