I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, teach me a supplication for seeking refuge that I may use."He took my hand and said, "Say, 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, from the evil of my sight, from the evil of my tongue, from the evil of my heart, and from the evil of my semen,'" meaning his private part.
أتيت النبي ﷺ فقلت: يا رسول الله علمني تعوذا أتعوذ به قال: فأخذ بكفي فقال: قل: اللهم إني أعوذ بك من شر سمعي، ومن شر بصري، ومن شر لساني، ومن شر قلبي، ومن شر منيي. يعني فرجه.
This was narrated by Abu Dawud (1551), Tirmidhi (3492), Nasai (5444, 5455, 5484), Ahmad (15541-15542), Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (663), and Hakim (1/532-533), all of them through various routes from Saad bin Aws (who is Absi), from Bilal bin Yahya Absi, from Shutayr bin Shakal, from his father Shakal bin Humayd, who narrated it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith, we do not know it except from this route, from the hadith of Saad bin Aws, from Bilal bin Yahya." Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in its chain."I say, its chain is hasan on account of Bilal bin Yahya Absi, for he is truthful (saduq).As for seeking refuge from intense cold, meaning the zamharir of Hell, as narrated by Ibn Sunni in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (307), this is not sahih.
