Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw something that pleased him, he would say, "Praise be to Allah, by whose grace good things are accomplished." And whenever he saw something he disliked, he would say, "Praise be to Allah in every circumstance."
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا رأى ما يحب قال: الحمد لله الذي بنعمته تتم الصالحات. وإذا رأى ما يكره قال: الحمد لله على كل حال.
Ibn Majah (3803), Ibn Sunni in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (379), and Hakim (1/499) all narrated it through various routes from Walid bin Muslim, who said, Zuhayr bin Muhammad told us, from Mansur bin Abdul-Rahman Hajabi, from his mother Safiya bint Shayba, from Ayesha, and he related it.Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in isnad." Nawawi deemed its isnad jayyid in al-Adhkar, and this is indeed the case, for at the very least its isnad is hasan. Zuhayr bin Muhammad is trustworthy, except that the narration of the people of Syria from him is not sound, and Walid bin Muslim is himself Syrian, but he did not err in this narration, since there are many corroborating reports, even though these corroborations are not free from some criticism.Bazzar (533) narrated it from Ali bin Abu Talib, and Abu Naeem in al-Hilya (3/157) from Abu Hurairah, and others besides them narrated it as well. Taken together, this indicates that the hadith has a genuine basis, and the soundest version of it is the hadith of Ayesha. And success comes from Allah.
