The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever establishes a good practice will receive its reward as long as it is acted upon during his life and after his death, until it is abandoned. Whoever establishes an evil practice will bear its sin until it is abandoned. Whoever dies stationed at the frontier in the cause of Allah will continue to receive the reward of one stationed at the frontier until he is resurrected on the Day of Judgment."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: من سن سنة حسنة، فله أجرها ما عمل به في حياته، وبعد مماته حتى يترك، ومن سن سنة سيئة فعليه إثمها حتى يترك ومن مات مرابطا في سبيل الله جرى له أجر المرابط حتى يبعث يوم القيامة.

Tabarani narrated it (184) through two routes from Ibrahim bin Ala Himsi, who said, Ismail bin Ayyash told us, from Umar bin Rubah, from Abdul-Wahid bin Abdullah Nasri, from Wathila bin Asqa, and he related the hadith.Haythami said, "... its men are reliable."I say, its chain of transmission is hasan. Ibrahim bin Ala is sound in matters of hadith, and no one objected to him except in a single hadith, and when he was informed of that he abandoned it. This indicates his truthfulness and scrupulousness. Ismail bin Ayyash is truthful in his narration from the people of Syria, and his teacher in this hadith, Umar bin Rubah, is truthful and from the people of Syria.
