A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I am about to set out on a journey, so provide me with provisions."He said, "May Allah provide you with the provision of piety."The man said, "Give me more."He said, "And may He forgive your sins."The man said, "Give me more, may my father and mother be ransomed for you."He said, "And may He make goodness easy for you wherever you are."
جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال: يا رسول الله إني أريد سفرا فزودني قال: زودك الله التقوى. قال: زدني. قال: وغفر ذنبك. قال: زدني بأبي أنت وأمي. قال: ويسر لك الخير حيثما كنت.
Tirmidhi (3444) narrated it, as did Ibn Sunni in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (503), and Ibn Khuzayma (2532) and Hakim (2/97) both graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Sayar bin Hatim, who said, Jafar bin Sulayman narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, and he related it. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith." I say, it is as he said, for Sayar bin Hatim and Jafar bin Sulayman make the hadith hasan so long as their error has not been established. It has also been narrated from Anas through another route similar to it.Darimi (2713) narrated it, as did Ibn Sunni (504), both through the route of Muslim bin Ibrahim, who said, Saeed bin Abu Kaab Abu Hasan Abdi narrated to us, saying, Musa bin Maysara narrated to me, from Anas bin Malik, who said, a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said to him, "O Prophet of Allah, I intend to travel." He said to him, "When?" The man said, "Tomorrow, Allah willing." He said, so he came to him and took him by the hand and said to him, "In the safekeeping of Allah and under His protection, may Allah provide you with piety as provision, forgive you your sin, and direct you toward good wherever you turn, or wherever you intend."In its chain is Musa bin Maysara Abdi, of whom Ibn Hajar said, "He is obscure." And Saeed bin Abu Kaab, of whom Abu Hatim said, "A minor shaykh," and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy. There is no harm in a chain like this when used as a corroborating narration.
