A man said, "Messenger of Allah, I intend to travel, so give me some advice."He replied, "Hold fast to the fear of Allah, and say 'Allahu Akbar' at every elevated place."When the man turned to leave, he said, "O Allah, fold up the distance for him and make the journey easy upon him."
أن رجلا قال: يا رسول الله إني أريد أن أسافر فأوصني. قال: عليك بتقوى الله، والتكبير على كل شرف، فلما أن ولى الرجل قال: اللهم اطو له البعد، وهون عليه السفر.
Narrated by Tirmidhi (3445), Ibn Majah (2771), Ahmad (8310), Nasai in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (505), Ibn Khuzayma (2561), Ibn Hibban (2692, 2702), and Hakim (2/98), all of them through various routes from Usama bin Zayd, from Saeed Maqburi, from Abu Hurairah, who related it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan hadith." Hakim said, "This is a sahih hadith according to the criterion of Muslim."I say, it is as Tirmidhi said, for Usama bin Zayd is al-Laythi, whose hadith is hasan.
