The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The people of the West will continue to prevail upon the truth until the Hour comes."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لا يزال أهل الغرب ظاهرين على الحق حتى تقوم الساعة.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Leadership (1925), from Yahya bin Yahya, who said, Hushaym informed us, from Dawud bin Abu Hind, from Abu Uthman, from Saad bin Abu Waqqas, and he related it.As for his saying, "the people of the west," Imam Ahmad and other scholars explained it to mean the people of Syria, even though Syria is not, in terms of direction, to the west of Madinah. However, the people of Madinah used to call the people of Syria "the people of the west," so the Prophet ﷺ expressed it in their language, and there is evidence supporting this.It has also been said that what is meant is a great tree found in Hijaz, or that it refers to sharpness and fierceness, meaning the people of jihad, or that it refers to a bucket. The first explanation is the more correct one.
