The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Musa met. Musa said to Adam, 'Are you the one whom Allah created with His own hand, into whom He breathed of His spirit, and before whom He made the angels prostrate? He gave you a command and you disobeyed it, causing us to be expelled from Paradise.'Adam replied, 'Allah gave you the Torah. Did you find written in it that this sin was decreed upon me before I committed it?'Musa answered, 'Yes.'Adam said, 'Then why do you blame me for doing something that Allah had decreed for me to do before He created me?'"So Adam outargued Musa, peace be upon them both.
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: التقى آدم وموسى، فقال موسى: أنت الذي خلقك الله بيده، وأسجد لك ملائكته، ونفخ فيك من روحه، وأمرك بأمر فعصيته، فأخرجتنا من الجنة؟ فقال له آدم: قد أتاك الله التوراة، فهل وجدت فيها: كتب علي الذنب قبل أن أعمله؟ قال: نعم. قال: فحج آدم موسى، فحج آدم موسى عليهما السلام.
Ibn Khuzayma narrated it in Kitab Tawhid (62), from Ahmad bin Abdah Dabbi, who said, Hammad bin Zayd informed us, from Matar Warraq, from Abdullah bin Burayda, from Yahya bin Yamar, who said, "When Mabad Juhani spoke about predestination," and he mentioned the hadith in full.Ibn Khuzayma said, I have dictated it in Kitab Iman, and in the report it says Abdullah bin Umar narrated from Umar bin Khattab, and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of the discussion regarding Matar Warraq, except that his hadith is hasan.This chain was cited by Muslim in Kitab Iman (8:2), but he did not mention its wording, instead referring to the hadith of Kahmas, from Abdullah bin Burayda, from Yahya bin Yamar, from Abdullah bin Umar, from Umar bin Khattab, who said, "While we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day, a man suddenly appeared before us wearing extremely white clothing..." and he mentioned the hadith of Jibreel.Muslim said, It contains some additions and omissions of wording. Perhaps he means the addition that Ibn Khuzayma mentioned.
