The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You will conquer Egypt, a land where the qirat is used as currency. When you conquer it, treat its people well, for they have a covenant of protection and ties of kinship," or he said, "a covenant of protection and ties of marriage. When you see two men disputing there over the place of a single brick, leave that land."So I saw Abd al-Rahman bin Shurahbil bin Hasanah and his brother Rabia disputing over the place of a brick, and I left.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of the Virtues of the Companions (227:2543) from Zuhayr bin Harb and Abdullah bin Saeed, who both said, "Wahb bin Jareer told us, my father told us, I heard Harmalah the Egyptian narrate from Abdul-Rahman bin Sahammasa, from Abu Basra, from Abu Dharr," and he mentioned it.His saying, "a covenant of protection and kinship," means by "kinship" that the mother of Ismail (Hagar) was one of them. And his saying, "a covenant of protection and marriage ties," means by "marriage ties" that the mother of Ibrahim bin Muhammad ﷺ (who is Mariyah the Copt) was one of them.
