The Prophet ﷺ said, "When the Asharis run low on provisions during a military expedition, or when food becomes scarce for their families in Medina, they gather whatever they have into a single garment, then divide it equally among themselves in a single vessel. They are from me, and I am from them."
Bukhari related it in the Book of Partnership (2486), and Muslim related it in the Book of the Virtues of the Companions (2500), both of them from Abu Kurayb Muhammad bin Ala, who said, Hammad bin Usama narrated to us, from Buraid, from Abu Burda, from Abu Musa, who said, and then he related it. The wording given is Bukhari's, and Muslim's is similar.
