The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were it not for the Hijrah, I would have been one of the Ansar. If people took one valley and the Ansar took another valley or mountain pass, I would take the valley of the Ansar, or the mountain pass of the Ansar."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لولا الهجرة لكنت امرءا من الأنصار، ولو سلك الناس واديا، وسلكت الأنصار واديا، أو شعبا لسلكت وادي الأنصار، أو شعب الأنصار.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Wishes (7244), from Abu Yaman, who said, Shuayb informed us, who said, Abu Zinad narrated to us, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, who said, then he mentioned it.
