The Ansar said, "Every prophet has followers, and we have followed you, so call upon Allah to make our followers from among us." So he supplicated for that.I mentioned this to Abu Layla, and he said, "Zayd has indeed claimed that."
قالت الأنصار: لكل نبي أتباع، وإنا قد اتبعناك، فادع الله أن يجعل أتباعنا منا، فدعا به، فتمنيت ذلك إلى أبي ليلى، قال: قد زعم ذلك زيد.
Bukhari narrated it in the Merits of the Ansar (3787), from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Ghundar narrated to us, who said, Shuba narrated to us, from Amr, "I heard Abu Hamza," from Zayd bin Arqam, and he related it.In another wording, the Prophet ﷺ said, "O Allah, make their followers among them." Amr said, "I mentioned this to Ibn Abu Layla, who said, 'Zayd indeed claimed that.'" Shuba said, "I think he meant Zayd bin Arqam."Bukhari narrated it in the Merits of the Ansar (3788), from Adam, who said, Shuba narrated to us, who said, Amr bin Mura narrated to us, saying, "I heard Abu Hamza, a man from the Ansar." The Ansar said, and he related something similar.
