The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were it not for the migration, I would be a man of the Ansar. If the people took one valley or mountain pass and the Ansar took another, I would go with the Ansar."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لولا الهجرة لكنت امرءا من الأنصار، ولو سلك الناس واديا أو شعبا لكنت مع الأنصار.
Tirmidhi (3899) and Ahmad (21246 and 21258) narrated it, and Hakim graded it sahih (4/78), all of them through Zuhayr bin Muhammad Khurasani, from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, from Tufayl bin Abu bin Kaab, from his father, who said, and then he related it. Its chain is hasan because of Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel, for his hadith is hasan when it does not contradict others. Tirmidhi also graded it hasan.
