Anas bin Malik reported,

Usayd bin Hudayr al-Ashhali, the chief, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he had been distributing food. Usayd mentioned to him a household from Banu Zafar of the Ansar who were in need.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Usayd, you left us alone until what we had in our hands was gone. When you hear that something has come to us, remind me of that household."Later, food came to him from Khaybar, barley and dates. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ distributed it among the people, and he gave generously to the Ansar, and he gave a portion to that household.Usayd bin Hudayr said to him in gratitude, "May Allah reward you, Prophet of Allah, with the finest reward," or he said, "with goodness."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "And you too, company of the Ansar, may Allah reward you with the finest reward," or he said, "with goodness. For indeed, as far as I know, you are chaste and patient. After me you will see others preferred over you in authority and in distribution, so be patient until you meet me at the Pool."

عن أنس بن مالك قال

جاء أسيد بن حضير الأشهلي النقيب إلى رسول الله ﷺ، وقد كان قسم طعاما، فذكر له أهل بيت من بني ظفر من الأنصار، فيهم حاجة، فقال لي رسول الله ﷺ: أسيد تركتنا حتى إذا ذهب ما في أيدينا فإذا سمعت بشيء قد جاءنا، فاذكر لي أهل ذلك البيت. قال: فجاءه بعد ذلك طعام من خيبر: شعير وتمر، قال: فقسم رسول الله ﷺ في الناس، وقسم في الأنصار، فأجزل، وقسم في أهل ذلك البيت، فقال له أسيد بن حضير: مستشكرا جزاك الله أي نبي الله أطيب الجزاء، أو قال خيرا، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: وأنتم معشر الأنصار، فجزاكم الله أطيب الجزاء أو قال خيرا، فإنكم ما علمت أعفة صبر، وسترون بعدي أثرة في الأمر والقسم، واصبروا حتى تلقوني على الحوض.
