Abu Saeed Khudri reported,

A group of the Ansar gathered and said, "Others have been preferred over us." This reached the Prophet ﷺ, so he gathered them and addressed them, saying, "People of the Ansar, were you not lowly, and Allah honored you?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth."He said, "Were you not astray, and Allah guided you?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth."He said, "Were you not poor, and Allah made you rich?"They replied, "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth."Then he said, "Will you not answer me? Will you not say, 'You came to us driven out, and we sheltered you. You came to us afraid, and we gave you safety.' Are you not content that the people take away sheep and cattle, while you take away the Messenger of Allah and bring him into your homes? If the people were to travel through one valley or mountain pass, and the Ansar traveled through another, I would travel through the valley or pass of the Ansar. Were it not for the Hijrah, I would have been a man from the Ansar. After me, you will face favoritism shown to others, so be patient until you meet me at the Cistern."

عن أبي سعيد الخدري قال

اجتمع أناس من الأنصار فقالوا: آثر علينا غيرنا، فبلغ ذلك النبي ﷺ فجمعهم، ثم خطبهم، فقال: يا معشر الأنصار، ألم تكونوا أذلة فأعزكم الله؟ قالوا: صدق الله ورسوله. قال: ألم تكونوا ضلالا فهداكم الله؟ قالوا: صدق الله ورسوله. قال: ألم تكونوا فقراء فأغناكم الله؟ قالوا: صدق الله ورسوله، ثم قال: ألا تجيبونني، ألا تقولون: أتيتنا طريدا فآويناك، وأتيتنا خائفا فأمناك، ألا ترضون أن يذهب الناس بالشاء والبقران- يعني البقر- وتذهبون برسول الله، فتدخلونه بيوتكم، لو أن الناس سلكوا واديا أو شعبة، وسلكتم واديا أو شعبة، لسلكتم واديكم أو شعبتكم، لولا الهجرة لكنت امرأ من الأنصار، وإنكم ستلقون بعدي أثرة، فاصبروا حتى تلقوني على الحوض.
