Ibn Abbas said to me, "Shall I show you a woman from the people of Paradise?"I replied, "Yes."He said, "This black woman came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'I suffer from epileptic seizures, and during them my body becomes uncovered. So pray to Allah for me.'He said, 'If you wish, you may endure it patiently and Paradise will be yours, or if you wish, I will pray to Allah to cure you.'She said, 'I will endure it patiently.' Then she added, 'But my body becomes uncovered, so pray to Allah that I not be uncovered.'So he prayed for her."
قال لي ابن عباس: ألا أريك امرأة من أهل الجنة؟ قلت: بلى، قال: هذه المرأة السوداء، أتت النبي ﷺ فقالت: إني أصرع، وإني أتكشف، فادع الله لي، قال: إن شئت صبرت ولك الجنة، وإن شئت دعوت الله أن يعافيك. فقالت: أصبر، فقالت: إني أتكشف، فادع الله أن لا أتكشف، فدعا لها.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of the Sick (5652), and Muslim in the Book of Righteousness and Kinship (2576), both through Imran Abu Bakr, who said, "Ata bin Abu Rabah narrated to me," and he related it.Bukhari also transmitted it through another route, saying, "Muhammad, that is Ibn Salam, narrated to us, Makhlad informed us, from Ibn Jurayj, Ata informed me that he saw Umm Zafar, that tall, black woman, at the curtain of the Kaaba." This is the correct account, that this tall, black Abyssinian woman was known by the kunya Umm Zafar. This is how the trustworthy narrators reported it from Ata. Her name was Shairah.
