Hind bint Utba bin Rabia said, "Messenger of Allah, there was no household on the face of the earth I wished to see humiliated more than the people of your household." Yahya was uncertain whether she said "households" or "household." "But today there is no household I wish to see honored more than the people of your household."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "And even more, by the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad."She said, "Messenger of Allah, Abu Sufyan is a stingy man. Is there any blame on me if I feed his family from what belongs to him?"He answered, "No, as long as it is done in a reasonable manner."
إن هند بنت عتبة بن ربيعة قالت: يا رسول الله ما كان مما على أهل الأرض أهل أخباء أو خباء أحب إلي أن يذلوا من أهل أخبائك، أو خبائك- شك يحيى- ثم ما أصبح اليوم أهل أخباء أو خباء أحب إلي من أن يعزوا من أهل أخبائك أو خبائك، قال رسول الله ﷺ: وأيضا والذي نفس محمد بيده. قالت: يارسول الله، إن أبا سفيان رجل مسيك فهل علي حرج أن أطعم من الذي له؟ قال: لا إلا بالمعروف.
Bukhari narrated it in "Oaths and Vows" (6641), and Muslim in "The Virtues of the Companions" (1714), both through chains of transmission from Zuhri, from Urwa, from Ayesha, who related it as mentioned. This is Bukhari's wording, and Muslim's is similar.The doubt attributed to Yahya, which Bukhari pointed to, belongs to Yahya bin Bukayr, Bukhari's teacher in this hadith. No one else expressed doubt about it in Bukhari's version, and likewise in Muslim's version they said, "from the people of your tent."
