The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Who are your people?"I replied, "From Daws."He said, "I never thought there was anyone of good among Daws."
قال النبي ﷺ: ممن أنت؟ قال: قلت: من دوس قال: ما كنت أرى أن في دوس أحد فيه خير.
Bazzar (9521) and Tirmidhi (3838) both narrated it from Bishr bin Adam bin the daughter of Azhar Sammaan, who said, Abdul-Samad bin Abdul-Warith narrated to us, who said, Abu Khaldah (who is Khalid bin Dinar) narrated to us, who said, Abu Aliyah (whose name is Rafi bin Mihran) narrated to us, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and then he mentioned it.Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih. Its chain is hasan because of Bishr bin Adam and Abdul-Samad bin Abdul-Warith, for these two are what make the hadith hasan. There is disagreement over Abu Khaldah Khalid bin Dinar regarding whether he connected the chain or left it unconnected. Abu Hatim (2592) favored the unconnected version, though the connected version contains an addition.The meaning of the hadith is that there is no one among the Daws tribe possessing any good except one who believed and followed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, like Abu Hurairah, Abu Tufayl, and others.
