When I came to the Prophet ﷺ, I said along the way, "What a long and exhausting night, but it has rescued me from the realm of disbelief."A slave of mine ran away during the journey. When I reached the Prophet ﷺ and pledged allegiance to him, while I was sitting with him, the slave suddenly appeared.The Prophet ﷺ said to me, "Abu Hurayrah, here is your slave."I replied, "He is freed for the sake of Allah," and I set him free.
لما قدمت على النبي ﷺ قلت في الطريق: يا ليلة من طولها وعنائها على أنها من دارة الكفر نجت وأبق غلام لي في الطريق، فلما قدمت النبي ﷺ فبايعته، فبينا أنا عنده إذ طلع الغلام، فقال لي النبي ﷺ: يا أبا هريرة، هذا غلامك. فقلت: هو لوجه الله، فأعتقته.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4393) from Muhammad bin Ala, who said, Abu Usama narrated to us, who said, Ismail (that is, Ibn Abu Khalid) narrated to us, from Qays (that is, Ibn Abu Hazim), from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.
