The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the mosque and heard a man reciting. He asked, "Who is this?"It was said, "Abdullah bin Qays."He said, "This man has been given one of the melodious voices of the family of Dawud."
دخل رسول الله ﷺ المسجد فسمع قراءة رجل فقال: من هذا؟ قيل: عبد الله بن قيس، فقال: لقد أوتي هذا من مزامير آل داود.
Nasai (1019), Ibn Majah (1341), and Ahmad (9806, 8820) narrated it, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (7196), all of them through various routes from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, who mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.
