The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I shall surely find myself disputing over some of you at the Pond. I will say, 'This man is one of my companions,' and it will be said, 'You do not know what they introduced after you.'"Abu Darda said, "Prophet of Allah, pray to Allah that He not make me one of them."He replied, "You are not among them."
Bazzar (4112) and Tabarani in al-Awsat (399) both narrated it through the route of Abu Tuba Rabi bin Nafi, who said, Muhammad bin Hajir told us, from Yazid bin Abu Maryam, from Abu Ubaydullah Muslim bin Mishkam, from Abu Darda, who related it.Its chain is hasan because of Yazid bin Abu Maryam, for he is hasan al-hadith. Haythami said in al-Majma (9/367), "Tabarani narrated it in al-Awsat, and Bazzar narrated something similar, and the men of both are trustworthy." Ibn Hajar also graded its chain hasan in al-Fath (11/385).A note of caution, in Musnad Bazzar, "Yazid bin Abu Malik" appears instead of "Yazid bin Abu Maryam." Yazid bin Abu Malik is Ibn Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Malik, and he too is hasan al-hadith.
