Jabir said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ met me and said, 'Jabir, why do I see you looking so downcast?'I said, "Messenger of Allah, my father was killed as a martyr, and he left behind dependents and a debt."He said, "Shall I not give you good news of how Allah received your father?"I said, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."He said, "Allah has never spoken to anyone except from behind a veil, but He brought your father back to life and spoke with him face to face. He said, 'My servant, ask of Me whatever you wish and I will grant it.'Your father said, 'My Lord, bring me back to life so that I may be killed for Your sake a second time.'The Lord said, 'I have already decreed that they shall not return.'"And this verse was revealed, "Do not think of those who were killed in the way of Allah as dead" [Al Imran 3:169].
Tirmidhi (3010) and Ibn Majah (190) narrated it, Ibn Hibban (7022) and Hakim (3/203–4) graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Musa bin Ibrahim bin Katheer, who said, "I heard Talha bin Kharash say, 'I heard Jabir,'" and he mentioned it. Tirmidhi said, "It is hasan gharib from this angle, we do not know it except from the hadith of Musa bin Ibrahim. Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqeel narrated something of this from Jabir, and Ali bin Abdullah Madini and more than one of the senior scholars of hadith narrated it this way from Musa bin Ibrahim."I say, its chain is hasan because of Musa bin Ibrahim bin Katheer, for his hadith is hasan when he does not contradict others. His statement "kifahan" means face to face and direct speech without a veil.
