Jabir reported, "My father was brought on the day of Uhud, mutilated, and placed before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, covered with a cloth. I went to uncover him, but my people stopped me. I tried again to uncover him, but my people stopped me again. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave the order, and he was lifted up. At that moment, he heard the voice of a woman wailing."He asked, "Who is this?"They said, "The daughter of Amr," or "the sister of Amr."He said, "Why does she weep? The angels have not ceased to shade him with their wings until he was lifted up."
جيء بأبي يوم أحد قد مثل به حتى وضع بين يدي رسول الله ﷺ وقد سجي ثوبا، فذهبت أريد أن أكشف عنه، فنهاني قومي، ثم ذهبت أكشف عنه، فنهاني قومي، فأمر رسول الله ﷺ فرفع، فسمع صوت صائحة، فقال: من هذه؟ فقالوا: ابنة عمرو، أو أخت عمرو، قال: فلم تبكي؟ فما زالت الملائكة تظله بأجنحتها حتى رفع.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Funerals (1293), and Muslim in the Merits of the Companions (2471-129), both through the route of Sufyan bin Uyayna, who said, Ibn Munkadir narrated to us, he said, I heard Jabir bin Abdullah say, and he mentioned it. This is the wording of Bukhari, and Muslim's wording is similar to it. In it, after his statement, "My people forbade me," it adds, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had it raised, or ordered it raised and it was raised, and he heard the voice of a weeping or wailing woman." The rest is the same.In another wording, "My father was struck down on the day of Uhud, and I began uncovering the cloth from his face and weeping, and they began forbidding me, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not forbid me. He said, and Fatimah bint Amr began weeping for him, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whether you weep for him or not, the angels kept shading him with their wings until you carried him away.'"Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Funerals (1244), and Muslim in the Merits of the Companions (2471-130), both through the route of Shuba, who said, I heard Muhammad bin Munkadir narrate it. This is the wording of Muslim, and Bukhari's wording is similar to it.
