A letter was sent to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said to Abdullah bin Arqam, "Reply to these people."So Abdullah bin Arqam took it and wrote the response. Then he brought the letter and presented it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said, "You have done well."That praise so pleased me that when I came to authority, I appointed him over the treasury.

Bazzar (267) narrated it from Umar bin Khattab Sijistani, who said, our teacher Ibrahim bin Munzir (who is Hizami) told us, our teacher Muhammad bin Sadaqah Fadaki told us, our teacher Malik told us, from Zayd bin Aslam, from his father, from Umar, who said, then he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Sadaqah Fadaki. Daraqutni said about him, "He is not well known, but there is no harm in him." Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators and said, "His hadith is to be taken into consideration when he makes clear that he actually heard it directly in his narration, for he used to hear from weak people who narrated from Malik, and then he would obscure the true source in reporting from him." Here he has made clear that he heard it directly.Bazzar's teacher Umar bin Khattab Sijistani, and his teacher's teacher Ibrahim bin Munzir, are both truthful narrators. However, Daraqutni holds the view that the version with an incomplete chain is sahih, for he said, "Others narrated it from Malik and reported it with an incomplete chain, and that is the sahih version."The hadith has other chains of transmission besides this one, but what I have mentioned here is the soundest of them.
