The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Provision pursues a servant just as his appointed death pursues him."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إن الرزق ليطلب العبد كما يطلبه أجله.

Bazzar (4099), Ibn Abu Asim in Sunnah (264), and Ibn Hibban (3238) all narrated it through various routes from Hisham bin Khalid Azraq, who said, Walid bin Muslim told us, Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid bin Jabir told us, from Ismail bin Ubaydullah bin Abu Muhajir, from Umm Darda, from Abu Darda, who said, and then he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Hisham bin Khalid Azraq, for his hadith is hasan.Bazzar said, "We do not know this hadith to be narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except through Abu Darda, and we do not know of any route for it other than this one, and we do not know of anyone who narrated it from Walid except Hisham bin Khalid, and there was nothing wrong with him, except that he was not corroborated in this hadith. The people of knowledge have accepted it from him and mentioned it on his authority, and its chain is sahih, apart from what they mentioned about Hisham bin Khalid being the sole narrator of it, and we know of no defect in it."I say, it is as he said, except for his statement "Hisham bin Khalid was the sole narrator of it," for his being the sole narrator does not harm the hadith, since he was truthful, as Abu Hatim said, and Abu Ali Jayyani and Maslama bin Qasim both confirmed his reliability.Daraqutni was asked about this hadith, and he mentioned the disagreement over whether it was raised to the Prophet or stopped at the companion, and he said, "The stopped version is the correct one." Ilal (1089).I say, an addition from a reliable narrator is accepted according to the majority of hadith scholars. As for what is narrated from Jabir as a saying raised to the Prophet, "If the son of Adam were to flee from his provision as he flees from death, his provision would still catch up with him just as death catches up with him," this is daif.Abu Naeem narrated it in Hilyah (7/90) from Sulayman bin Ahmad, who said, Yahya bin Abdul-Baqi told us, Musayab bin Wadih told us, Yusuf bin Asbat told us, Sufyan Thawri told us, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir, and he mentioned something similar.Abu Naeem said, "Yusuf bin Asbat was the sole narrator of it from Thawri." End of quote.I say, Yusuf bin Asbat is Ibn Wasil, Abu Muhammad Shaybani. Bukhari said of him, "He buried his books, and afterward his hadith did not come out as it should." Ibn Adi said, "In my view Yusuf was among the people of truthfulness, except that having lost his books he had to rely on his memory, so he would make mistakes and things would become confused for him, not that he intentionally lied."The one who narrated from him, Musayab bin Wadih Sulami Himsi, Abu Hatim said of him, "He was truthful but made many mistakes, and when this was pointed out to him he would not accept it." Daraqutni said, "Daif," and he weakened him in several places in his Sunan. See Mizan (4/116).
