The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How many a disheveled, dust-covered person, clothed in two worn garments and paid no attention to, that if he were to swear an oath by Allah, He would fulfill it for him. Among them is al-Bara bin Malik."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: كم من أشعث أغبر ذي طمرين لا يؤبه له لو أقسم على الله لأبره، منهم البراء بن مالك.
Tirmidhi (3854) narrated it from Abdullah bin Abu Ziyad, who said, "Sayar narrated to us, Jafar bin Sulayman narrated to us, Thabit and Ali bin Zayd narrated to us, from Anas bin Malik," and he related it.He said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith from this angle."I say, it is as he said, for Abdullah bin Abu Ziyad and Sayar bin Hatim are narrators whose reports are graded hasan.His word "ashath" refers to someone whose hair is disheveled.His word "dhi timrayn" means someone with two worn-out garments.His word "la yubbahu lahu" means that no attention is paid to him and he is given no regard.
