My father was martyred while fighting alongside the Prophet ﷺ in one of his expeditions. The Prophet ﷺ passed by me while I was weeping and said to me, "Hush. Would it not please you that I be your father and Ayesha your mother?"I replied, "Of course, may my father and mother be ransomed for you, Messenger of Allah."
استشهد أبي مع النبي ﷺ في بعض غزواته، فمر بي النبي ﷺ، وأنا أبكي، فقال لي: اسكت، أما ترضى أن أكون أنا أبوك، وعائشة أمك؟ قلت: بلى بأبي أنت وأمي يا رسول الله.

Bukhari narrated it in Tarikh al-Kabir (2/78), and from his route Bayhaqi narrated it in Shuab (10533), from Abdullah bin Uthman bin Ata Khurasani, who said, Hajar bin Harith Ghassani narrated to us, saying, I heard Abdullah bin Awf Qari say, I heard Bishr bin Aqraba say... then he mentioned it.Its isnad is hasan because of Abdullah bin Uthman bin Ata Khurasani, about whom Abu Hatim said, "Acceptable," and because of his teacher Hajar bin Harith Ghassani, whom Ibn Main deemed trustworthy, as recorded in Suhalat Ibn Mihraz (101). Neither Mizzi mentioned him in Tahzib Kamal, nor did Ibn Hajar mention him in Tahdhib al-Tahdhib.
