When my waiting period ended, Abdul-Rahman bin Awf proposed to me along with a group of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ proposed to me on behalf of his freedman Usama bin Zayd. I had been told that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever loves me should love Usama."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Tribulations (2942-119) through several routes from Abdul-Samad bin Abdul-Warith, from Warith, from Husayn bin Zakwan, who said, Ibn Burayda narrated to us, Amir bin Sharahil Shaybi narrated to me, that he asked Fatimah bint Qays, and he mentioned it.Something to the same effect was reported from Ayesha, who said, "It is not fitting for anyone to hate Usama, after I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever loves Allah and His Messenger should love Usama.'"Ahmad narrated it (25234) from Husayn bin Ali, from Zaida, from Mughira (that is, Ibn Miqsam Dabbi), from Shaybi, who said, Ayesha said, and he mentioned it. Its chain is disconnected, for Shaybi, that is, Amir bin Sharahil, never heard directly from Ayesha, as stated by Ibn Main and Abu Hatim in Jami Tahsil (p. 204).
