The Quraysh were troubled by the affair of the Makhzumi woman, so they said, "Who would dare to speak to him about her except Usama bin Zayd, the beloved of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"
أن قريشا أهمهم شأن المخزومية فقالوا: من يجترئ عليه إلا أسامة بن زيد حب رسول الله ﷺ؟
Bukhari narrated it in the Virtues of the Companions (3732), and Muslim in the Legal Punishments (1688-8), both from Qutayba, from Layth, from Zuhri, from Urwa, from Ayesha, and I have mentioned it, and this is the wording of Bukhari.
