Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on the Virtues of the Ansar (3809), and Muslim in the Virtues of the Companions (799-122), both from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, "Ghundar narrated to us, he said, 'I heard Shuba, and I heard Qatada,'" from Anas bin Malik, who said, then he mentioned it. The wording given is Bukhari's.In another wording, "Ubayy said, 'Did Allah name me to you?' He said, "Allah named you to me." He said, and Ubayy began to weep." Qatada said, "I was informed that he recited to him, "Those who disbelieved among the People of the Book"[Bayyinah 98:1]." Bukhari narrated it in Tafsir (4960), and Muslim in the Virtues of the Companions (799-121), both through the route of Hammam, who said, "Qatada narrated to us," from Anas bin Malik, who mentioned it, and the wording given is Bukhari's. Muslim did not mention Qatada's statement at the end.In another wording, "The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said to Ubayy bin Kaab, "Allah has commanded me to recite the Quran to you." He said, 'Did Allah name me to you?' He said, "Yes." He said, 'And was I mentioned before the Lord of the worlds?' He said, "Yes." So his eyes shed tears."Bukhari narrated it in Tafsir (4961) from Ahmad bin Abu Dawud, who said, "Rawh narrated to us, Saeed bin Abu Aruba narrated to us," from Qatada, from Anas bin Malik, who mentioned it.
