Narrated by Nasai in Kubra (8416), Ahmad in his Musnad (11618) (11756) and in Fadail al-Sahabah (1331), and Abu Yaala (1169), all of them from the hadith of Yazid bin Abu Ziyad, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Naim, from Abu Saeed Khudri, who related it. Yazid bin Abu Ziyad is daif, but he is corroborated by Mansur bin Abu Aswad. It was narrated by Hakim (3/154) through another route, from Mansur bin Abu Aswad, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Naim, from Abu Saeed Khudri, who related something similar. He said, "This is a hadith sahih in isnad." I say, its isnad is hasan because of Mansur bin Abu Aswad, for his hadith is hasan, except that in Hakim's isnad there is Muhammad bin Husayn bin Abu Husayn, whom no one has declared reliable, though Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat (9/136).Similar in meaning is what was narrated from Bara bin Azib, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Hasan and Husayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise." This was narrated by Tabarani in Awsat (4329), from Abdullah bin Ahmad bin Hanbal, who said, my father narrated to me, Ali bin Hakeem Awdi narrated to us, Sharik (that is, Ibn Abdullah the judge) narrated to us, from Ashath bin Sawwar, from Adi bin Thabit, from Bara, who related it. Its isnad is daif because of Ashath bin Sawwar, for he is daif by the agreement of the scholars. Haythami mentioned it in Majma (9/184) and said, "Tabarani narrated it, meaning in Kabir, and its isnad is hasan." I have not been able to locate its isnad in the printed portion of Mujam al-Kabir, and Allah knows best.Similar in meaning is also what was narrated from Abu Hurairah, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was late in coming to us one day at the start of the day, and when it was evening, one of us said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, it has been hard on us that we did not see you today." He said, "An angel from heaven who had never seen me before sought Allah's permission to visit me, and he told me, or gave me the good news, that my daughter Fatimah is the leader of the women of my nation, and that Hasan and Husayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise." This was narrated by Nasai in Kubra (8462), and Tabarani in Kabir (3/22 and 22/403), both through the route of Abu Jafar Muhammad bin Marwan Dhuhli, or as some say Hudhali, who said, Abu Hazim (whose name is Salman Ashjai) narrated to me, from Abu Hurairah, who related it. No one but Ibn Hibban has declared Muhammad bin Marwan reliable, and so the Hafiz said, "Acceptable," meaning if corroborated, otherwise his hadith is weak, and I have not found a corroborator for him.On this subject it is also narrated from Ibn Umar, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Hasan and Husayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise, and their father is better than both of them." However, this is very daif. It was narrated by Ibn Majah (118), and Hakim (3/167), both through the route of Muhammad bin Musa Wasiti, who said, Muallaa bin Abdul-Rahman narrated to us, who said, Ibn Abu Dhib narrated to us, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, who related it. Muallaa bin Abdul-Rahman, that is, Wasiti, is very daif, and Daraqutni accused him of lying, and Abu Zura said, "His hadith is worthless."
