My mother asked me, "When did you last visit?" meaning the Prophet ﷺ.I replied, "I have not visited him for such and such a time."She rebuked me for this, so I said to her, "Let me go to the Prophet ﷺ so I may pray the maghrib prayer with him and ask him to seek forgiveness for me and for you."So I went to the Prophet ﷺ and prayed maghrib with him. He continued praying until he prayed isha, then he turned away and I followed him. He heard my voice and asked, "Who is this? Hudhayfah?"I said, "Yes."He said, "What is your need? May Allah forgive you and your mother." Then he said, "This is an angel who has never descended to earth before tonight. He sought permission from his Lord to greet me with peace and to give me the good news that Fatimah is the mistress of the women of Paradise, and that Hasan and Husayn are the masters of the youth of Paradise."
سألتني أمي: متى عهدك؟ تعني بالنبي ﷺ فقلت: مالي به عهد منذ كذا كذا، فنالت مني، فقلت لها: دعيني أتي النبي ﷺ فأصلي معه المغرب واسأله أن يستغفر لي ولك، فأتيت النبي ﷺ فصليت معه المغرب، فصلى حتى صلى العشاء ثم انفتل فتبعته، فسمع صوتي فقال: من هذا؟ حذيفة؟ قلت: نعم، قال: ما حاجتك، غفر الله لك ولأمك؟ قال: إن هذا ملك لم ينزل الأرض قط قبل هذه الليلة، استأذن ربه أن يسلم علي ويبشرني بأن فاطمة سيدة نساء أهل الجنة، وأن الحسن والحسين سيدا شباب أهل الجنة.
Tirmidhi narrated it (3781) from Abdullah bin Abdul-Rahman and Ishaq bin Mansur, who said, "Muhammad bin Yusuf informed us, from Israel, from Maysara bin Habib, from Minhal bin Amr, from Zirr bin Hubaysh, from Huzaifa," and he related it.Ibn Khuzayma (1194), Ibn Hibban (6960), and Hakim (3/381) all narrated it through the route of Israel with the same wording, except that some of them limited it to mentioning the prayer only.Tirmidhi said, "Hasan, rare from this angle, and we do not know it except through the hadith of Israel." End of quote.I say, it is as he said, for its isnad is hasan because of Maysara bin Habib and Minhal bin Amr, since the two of them make the hadith hasan.Ahmad narrated it (23330) through another route, from Israel, from Abu Safar, from Shaybi, from Huzaifa, who said, "I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and I prayed Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha with him. Then I followed him as he intended to enter one of his rooms, and he stopped while I was behind him, as though he were speaking to someone."He said, then he said, "Who is this?" I said, "Huzaifa." He said, "Do you know who was with me?" I said, "No." He said, "Jibreel came to give me the good news that Hasan and Husayn are the two masters of the youth of Paradise."He said, then Huzaifa said, "So ask forgiveness for me and my mother." He said, "May Allah forgive you, Huzaifa, and your mother."The men of its isnad are trustworthy. Ibn Abu Safar is Abdullah bin Abu Safar, the Thawri, the Kufan, one of the narrators found in the standard collections. However, Shaybi, who is Amir bin Sharahil, Abu Amr the Kufan, encountered the time of Huzaifa while he was young. If the statement of Ibn Samani is correct that he was born in the year twenty, then his age at the death of Huzaifa would have been sixteen years, since Huzaifa died at the beginning of the caliphate of Ali, in the year thirty-six. Therefore I have not found anyone who stated definitively that he did not hear from him.
