The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is not one among you whose deeds will admit him to Paradise or save him from the Fire, except by mercy and favor from Allah."They asked, "Not even you, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Not even me, unless Allah envelops me in mercy from Himself."The narrator said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gestured with his hand, closing it and opening it as he spoke.
حدثنا أسود بن عامر حدثنا جرير بن حازم قال سمعت محمد بن سيرين قال
قال رسول الله ﷺ ما منكم من أحد يدخله عمله الجنة ولا ينجيه من النار إلا برحمة من الله وفضل قال قالوا يا رسول الله ولا أنت قال ولا أنا إلا أن يتغمدني الله منه برحمة قال وقال رسول الله ﷺ بيده يقبضها ويبسطها
Its isnad is sahih, it was mentioned before at 8312, and Bukhari related it at 7/157 in the Book of Medicine, on the wish of the sick person for death, and Muslim at 4/2170, number 2816, in the Book on the Hypocrites, and Ibn Majah at 2/1405, number 4201, through another route, and it was graded hasan in Zawaid.
