I was sitting with Salim bin Abdullah at the gate of Madinah when a young man from Quraysh passed by with his lower garment hanging loose.Salim said to him, "Raise your garment."The young man began to make excuses, saying that it had slipped down and that it was made of linen.When the young man had gone, Salim said, "I heard Abu Hurayrah say, 'I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, While a man was walking in a garment of his, admiring himself, Allah caused the earth to swallow him, and he will keep sinking into it until the Day of Resurrection.'"

كنت جالسا مع سالم بن عبد الله على باب المدينة فمر شاب من قريش كأنه مسترخي الإزار قال ارفع إزارك فجعل يعتذر فقال إنه استرخى وإنه من كتان فلما مضى قال سمعت أبا هريرة يقول سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول بينما رجل يمشي في حلة له معجب بنفسه إذ خسف الله به الأرض فهو يتجلجل فيها إلى يوم القيامة
Its isnad is hasan. See number 7074. Jareer bin Hazim occurs frequently and he is one of the trustworthy narrators. Here he narrates from one of his paternal uncles. He was also mentioned earlier at number 8723. Isa bin Yazid narrated from him, and he narrated from Abu Zura from Abu Hurairah. The hadith is found in Bukhari 10/258, number 5789, Fath al-Bari, in the Book of Clothing, chapter on one who drags his garment, and in Muslim 3/1653, number 2088, in the Book of Clothing, chapter on the prohibition of strutting proudly.
