We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a Hajj or Amra when a swarm of locusts came toward us. We began striking them with our whips and staffs, killing them. Then we became uneasy and said, "What have we done? We are in the state of ihram!"So we asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it, and he said, "There is no harm in it."
حدثنا سريج حدثنا حماد عن أبي المهزم قال سمعت
كنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في حج أو عمرة فاستقبلنا رجل من جراد فجعلنا نضربهن بسياطنا وعصينا فنقتلهن فسقط في أيدينا فقلنا ما نصنع ونحن محرمون فسألنا رسول الله ﷺ فقال لا بأس
Its isnad is daif, because of Abu Muhazzim, Yazid, though it is also said Abdul-Rahman, bin Sufyan. Nasai abandoned him, and Ibn Main and others declared him daif. Through his route, Tirmidhi also related it, 3/198, no. 850, in the book of Hajj, chapter on what has been said about sea game for one in the state of ihram, and Ibn Majah, 2/1074, no. 3222, both with the wording, "Eat it, for it is sea game." Malik related it, 352, in the book of Hajj, 82, as a legal opinion of Kaab, with a sahih chain, which has already been mentioned under no. 8314 and also under no. 8444.
