The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If people knew the reward of giving the call to prayer and standing in the first row, and they could find no way to obtain it except by drawing lots, they would draw lots for it. If they knew the reward of going early to the prayer, they would race one another to it. And if they knew the reward of the night prayer and the dawn prayer, they would come to them even if they had to crawl."
حدثنا إسحاق بن عيسى حدثنا مالك عن سمي عن أبي صالح
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لو يعلم الناس ما في النداء والصف الأول ثم لم يجدوا إلا أن يستهموا عليه لاستهموا عليه ولو يعلمون ما في التهجير لاستبقوا إليه ولو يعلمون ما في العتمة والصبح لأتوهما ولو حبوا
Its isnad is sahih. It is found in Bukhari 1/159, 167, 3/238, in the chapter on adhan, seeking rain during the adhan, and in Muslim 1/325, no. 437, in the chapter on prayer, straightening the rows and establishing them.
